About Nicholas Mosse Pottery
Nicholas Mosse began to revive the art of Irish spongeware pottery in the village of Bennettsbridge, County Kilkenny, in 1976. The colorful designs are applied using hand-cut sponges and result in bright floral patterns. Early spongeware in Ireland was a popular alternative to more expensive “printed” transferware dishes and was popular in rural households.
